Art Lesson PLANTS/LITERATURE - Creative Trees (oil pastels and paint)
Teach students to use their imagination for creating and designing unique tree species as part of a conservation unit. This lesson plan helps to support the concept of extinction of species when we don't look after planet Earth, and is a great companion to conservation focused literature and well-known picture books containing imaginative illustrations of trees and plants.
The lesson guides you through 4 creative design options, as exemplars for original trees, giving students the freedom to create whimsical designs.
This agency gives your students ownership over what they choose to make. They will enjoy expressing their personal ideas and creating unique tree designs that they can be proud of.
PRAISE FOR CREATIVITY Art project for TREES & Conservation
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "My students loved this project. We used it to explore lines. It was different than what we have in the past and the students really liked it. It was a great way to tie in literacy as well."
This CREATIVITY Art project for TREES & Conservation is ideal for 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade and 5th grade. The student examples in the tutorial were created by my 2nd graders, aged 7.
This is a comprehensive visual art lesson plan using oil pastel & paint. It will guide your students through creating artworks of child-like whimsical environments to enhance their love for nature. They will learn about close observational drawing of real tree parts & have the option to apply design principles like the SCAMPER brainstorming model to create original designs.
This lesson has tons of built in choice for differentiation, while keeping the skills taught consistent across the class, to save your sanity. A great project to further develop fine-motor skills for drawing & painting.
❤️ Make connections between art & you inquiry topics for deeper understanding
❤️ take the guesswork out of teaching art,
❤️ avoid endless hours of research,
❤️ avoid the epic fails that result from not having the time to trial the lesson or media yourself before teaching it.
I’ve done it all for you and trailed this lesson with my own students in both 2nd grade and 3rd grade.
❤️ why should you trust my lessons?
I am both a general ed. classroom teacher and currently practising as a Visual Art and Digital Media specialist educator, teaching students from ages 4-12, at a primary school. I do this every day, just like you!
