Art Lesson ANIMALS - Dragonfly Dreams (sgraffito, metallic paint, crayon-dye resist)

The art lesson explores sgraffito, metallic paint and proportional drawing. This is a PDF resource with links to New Zealand curriculum. This unit will provide a term's worth of learning as follows:
1) Develop Practical Knowledge in the Visual Arts (P.K) - Develop my observational drawing skills, Explore the effect of Metallic Paint as a medium,
2) Develop Ideas in the Visual Arts (DI) - Contrast warm and cool colours,
3) Communicate and Interpret the Visual Arts (C.I) - Discuss the choices I made to create my image,
4) Understand the Visual Arts in Context (U.C) - Develop suitable patterns for objects in nature (river pebbles, wings and leaves).
Lessons are step-by-step and easy to follow. Contains lesson sequence, unit plan, self assessment, teacher assessment. Full colour and brimming with progress photographs. Students create a final work showing a dragonfly zooming over a pebble strewn waterway, encircled with autumn leaves. Examples in this unit were made by Y3-4 students.
