LION PORTRAITS multi lesson art plan inspired by LION KING Grades 3-5
LION PORTRAITS is a comprehensive visual art lesson plan inspired by the story and stage show of THE LION KING. This PDF lesson plan also includes a demonstration video of the process. Your students will compose and create majestic acrylic painted portraits of the king of the jungle with the support of teacher guided drawing and painting.
Students will learn about :

Materials you will need include:
- Art paper
- Student oil pastels
- Acrylic paint
- Drawing pencil

This project will take multiple lesson to complete. All steps are clearly explained and photographed, giving you the confidence to deliver quality visual art lessons to your students. Media and techniques are fully illustrated, with photographs and a bonus video tutorial. Work examples created by students in Year 3 (aged 7+ yrs).
Art Skills include: Composing with stencils, Draw from observations, Draw with tutorials, Explore new ways of painting, Identify analogous colours, Use colours to communicate ideas, Use directional lines in painting to achieve texture, Respond to art created by artists and by my friends, Reflect on my own artwork, skills and progress.
This lesson plan links to trans-disciplinary learning in areas like: Science & Sharing the Planet (IB PYP) - animal kingdom, mammals, food chains in biomes, big cats, conservation, etc., and Where we are in Place and Time (IB PYP) - African Savannah.
