Art Lesson for Impressionist Sailboats inspired by Monet (draw & paint)
SAIL BOATS in Giverney is comprehensive visual art lesson plan inspired by the work of Claude Monet. This PDF lesson plan also includes a demonstration video of the process. Your students will create artwork of sail boats on a lake or sea, in an impressionist style. Monet is the 'father of Impressionism' and one of the most influential artists of the last century, who developed an enduring style, inspiring many artists that followed.
Learn to use the painting technique called ‘tache’ for water and light, mix your own colours from the Primaries, and create art using the elements of Colour, Space & Texture.
Students will learn about :
- Claude Monet and Impressionism,
- observational & guided drawing,
- colour theory, colour blending and paint effects,
- painting effects to add texture,
- layering elements to create depth
