Thank you for viewing this product. This is not a print and go unit - it is so much more!

This quality teacher guide with over 45 pages, can help you to deliver your Narrative writing plan over multiple lessons, through a context that you and your students will love.

Based on engaging student choice opportunities for genuine student agency in the process and student voice in the work product.

The content can be adapted to suit elementary and middle school learners.

Use the time-honoured classic picture book by Crockett Johnson called 'Harold and the Purple Crayon,' as the provocation for this Narrative writing unit (links to video read-alongs also included).

Students explore concepts in story telling and character building, resolving problems / conflicts and the consequences of those resolutions, and using powerful language to build imagery.

Using the narrative writing structure, students reflect on actual experiences and wishful experiences, bringing them together to create their own personal narratives. Consider adding in the twist of modelling on the original book, where solutions are 'drawn' by the main character in a coloured art tool of their choice. Please view the sample images before purchasing.
