OWL in a TREE Visual Art Drawing Project for a Wax Resist Painting Lesson
Owl in a Tree art activity is a wonderful project to connect with popular themes around birds, animals, habitats and Earth Day. As students learn about owls, they can share their understanding through creating bright artwork. This step-by-step multi-lesson guide teaches students about the art technique of wax resist painting, and explores the elements of art concepts for Line, Shape, Space and Texture. Using oil pastels and liquid water paints, students in mid and upper elementary will enjoy making their personal version of this striking Owl artwork, guided by the instructions in the PDF slideshow. Makes strong connections to Inquiry themes related to Sharing the Planet (IB PYP).
This is a new product so please enjoy this review for another oil pastel project in my store:

I’ve done it all for you in this comprehensive multi-lesson teaching guide.
❤️ Why should you trust my lessons?
I am both a general ed. classroom teacher and currently practising as a Visual Art and Digital Media specialist educator, teaching students from ages 4-12, at a primary school. I do this every day, just like you! My experience and knowledge are up to date with current practise.

❤️ So what is special about this resource?
OWL IN A TREE Drawing and Painting Lesson is NOT a superficial art or craft option. As a specialist in this field, I write lessons that encourage deeper, cross-curricular learning and make meaningful connections to other subject areas. This IS:
- a guided tutorial that includes the concepts of line, shape and patterns (Math),
- makes links to the concept of animals and habitats (Sharing The Planet - IB).
- makes cross-curricular links to Conservation and Earth Day
Students can express their unique ideas through personal choices and modifications, while working through the guided project. Pause the presentation in places to discuss next steps with students, check understanding and explore potential student responses or modifications, bringing personal creative ideas to the tutorial. This addresses the Viewing & Responding to artwork objectives in a purposeful way.
