Snowboarder Mixed-Media Art Project for a WINTER or SNOW Visual Art Lesson
Winter and Snow are always a favourite theme for December and January Visual Art projects for elementary kids. This Snowboarder mixed-media lesson plan takes students through a step-by-step tutorial and helps them to create their own version of the project. Students in upper elementary and middle school will explore water paints and drawing techniques to create a fun artwork for this season.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ "I have been so impressed with your season art units that I have purchased them all. Not being a particularly arty person I am always will to give things a try especially as the younger children learn so much being creative. I look forward to putting this unit to use."
❤️ So what is special about this resource?
Snowboarder, is NOT a superficial art or craft option. As a specialist in this field, I write lessons that encourage deeper, cross-curricular learning and make meaningful connections to other subject areas. This IS:
- a painting and drawing tutorial that includes the concept of line, area, position and shape (Math),
- explores the principles of motion / movement & reflection
- makes link to historic and modern activities and Seasons (Who We Are and Where We Are in Place and Time - IB).
- makes cross-curricular links to Seasons and Weather (How The World Woks - IB)
Students can express their unique ideas through personal choices and modifications (suggestions offered in the guide), while working through the guided project. Pause the PDF presentation in places to discuss next steps with students, check understanding and explore potential student responses or modifications, bringing personal creative ideas to the tutorial. Flip back and forward between the photo and the illustrated steps. This addresses the Viewing & Responding to artwork objectives in a purposeful way.
