Art Culture: African Masks
The art form of African Masks are a great way of exploring the cultural patterns, shapes and colours used in artwork from this continent. This unit was taught with students aged between 7-8 years old and can easily adapt up in complexity. It is a cardboard construction and painting piece, low cost and very effective. Optional decorative elements of feathers and beads are also demonstrated. A research component is included with student sheets for information gathering. Can be completed in approximately 6 x 30 minute lessons.
